Wilmington is a typical Sussex Downland Village famed for its Priory, its Church and the Long Man figure on Windover Hill.
Whilst all three are historic monuments, the Church is alive, used regularly for worship and prayer and vi.sited by many tourists and holidaymakers.
The Church was built, following the construction of the Priory, after the Norman Conquest. It has many and varied features of great charm and antiquity inside and outside.
The Appeal
Much work has been done following the fire which caused extensive damage to the fabric of the Church and destroyed the Bee and Butterfly window and the valuable pipe organ.
Although covered, basically, by insurance, experience tells us that there will be knock-on effect requiring works to be done which will not be covered by insurance; to complete all repair work in and around the Church will cost us 45,000.
